How To Announce Your Engagement

Did you just get engaged? Are you so happy you could just shout it from the rooftops? Well, what better way to share your happiness with the world than to formally announce your engagement. There are several ways you can do this.

First of all, you need to make personal announcements to those closest to you. This includes children, parents, grandparents, and close friends. You may choose to do this in person for children and parents or over the phone for other close family and friends. It is so important to make sure you do this before anything else. You don’t want to have your parents finding out on Facebook that you got engaged.

Once you have told your close family and friends, you may choose to hold an engagement party or mail formal announcements to announce your engagement to other family and friends. An engagement party can be a fun way to see everyone’s reactions when you share the news. Also, your family and friends won’t feel obligated to give gifts if they think they are just coming over for a cookout or get together. Just make sure that whomever you invite to the party or mail an announcement is also going to be invited to the wedding.

If you wish to share your news with others you can publish your announcement in your local newspaper. Most publications have a questionnaire for you to fill out, and some will even allow you to submit a picture. The questionnaire will usually include information about your education and careers, as well as a planned date for the wedding.

Now that you have made all your announcements of your engagement, you can start enlisting the help of those family and friends in the planning process.
