How To Choose Your Wedding Attendants

It’s that time in the planning process when you need to ask those important people in your life to be a part of your special day. As soon as you get engaged, this should be something you start thinking about. The sooner you do it the better, since as soon as you announce your engagement people will begin wondering who will be in the wedding party. Also, the sooner you ask, the sooner you will be able to enlist the help of your wedding party in the planning process.

The first people you should select are the maid/matron of honor and the best man. The maid of honor should be a sister or best friend, someone that has been by your side through thick and thin, and someone who you can trust to be a responsible contribution to your wedding. The maid of honor will be in charge of planning the shower and bachelorette party, so make sure she has the time to do this and she knows you well enough to plan what you would want. The best man should be the groom’s brother or best friend. This person should also be someone that has been there for the groom and knows him well. But, you also want the best man to be responsible as he will be in charge of the bachelor party and getting the groom to the ceremony on time.

After you choose the maid of honor and best man, you can begin selecting the bridesmaids and groomsmen. These people will also be siblings and close friends or family. Don’t forget to include your fiancée’s siblings in the wedding party. Also, make sure the friends you select are ones that you will have in your lives for a long time. This is a special day that you want to share with the most special people in your life. If you have a large wedding, you may need to select ushers to help seat guests. These can also be close friends or family.

You may choose to include a flower girl and ring bearer in your wedding party. These positions are best for children between the ages of 3 and 6. They can be nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, etc. If you do want to include children in the wedding party, make sure you are prepared for anything to happen. Children can be unpredictable and won’t necessarily follow plans exactly.

When selecting anyone to be in your wedding, choose wisely. Not only should these people be important and special in your lives, but you also need to make sure these people have the time and money to invest in your wedding, and be sure to show your appreciation for those things. Once you do have the wedding party selected, you will be that much closer to your perfect day.
