Envisioning a Wedding Style

A wedding is a special day for every bride and groom. When you think of your dream wedding, what do you see? Would you like a formal affair or something more casual? Envisioning your wedding style is an important aspect to have laid out early in the planning process, as it will dictate many other decisions you will make.

A formal wedding style may include a traditional church ceremony with a reception held at an extravagantly decorated venue. Typically, the ceremony is held in the afternoon with an evening reception to include a three-course plated dinner and a night of dancing. The attire for a formal event is black tie, with a bride in a stunning white designer gown. Usually, a formal affair can become quite expensive, with a guest list that reaches into the hundreds, so you will have to make sure you have a budget that can fit such extravagance.

A casual wedding style may be simpler, but definitely no less special. This style may not be as extravagant or have as many guests, but a casual wedding is usually more intimate. This could include a morning ceremony in a beautiful outdoor setting followed by a brunch reception, or a beach ceremony at sunset followed by cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Casual weddings also work well with themes. For example, you may host a costume party on Halloween, or a barbeque with fireworks on the 4th of July.

No matter what you decide, your wedding style should reflect who you are as a couple and should be a celebration of your love and commitment for each other.
