How To Set Your Wedding Timeline

Planning a wedding can be very stressful as there are many details that need to be taken care of. One of the first things you need to do after you get engaged is set up a time line. A time line will help you keep track of all the details and stay organized. You will first need to decide how long you will need to prepare for your wedding.

Typically, engagements can last from six months to eighteen months or more. This can be affected by how busy you are in your personal lives, as well as the availability of your preferred wedding vendors. After you have a length of time in mind you can set up your timeline. The timeline can be broken down into the following generic categories:

10 to 12 Months Before
6 to 9 Months Before
4 to 5 Months Before
2 to 3 Months Before
1 to 2 Months Before
1 to 2 Weeks Before
The Day Before
Wedding Day
After Wedding

All bridal magazines will have sample timelines to help you fill in yours with the tasks to be completed. Then, keep your timeline in a convenient spot for you to keep track of your completed tasks. As you complete a task, check it off the list. This will help you stay organized by knowing what is coming next in the planning process.

Remember, every wedding and every bride is different, so feel free to modify any pre-made timelines to fit to your specific event.
